My journey with massage and breathwork
Personal experience is the best teacher.
Because of a hectic and stressful existence, I had been on a long-time search for a way to create more peace and balance in my life: how to use more heart than head.
My path into body-oriented work began with a holistic massage training at the Holos Academy for Massage Therapy in Utrecht, the Netherlands (2009). This was followed by various courses and master classes, including:
- Myofascial Energetic Release
- Arun Conscious Touch
- Foot Reflexology
- Triggerpoint Reset Method
- Breathwork Coach certification
I’m currently in the final year of a 3-year Rebalancing training, further refining my skills as a bodyworker.
A Rebalancer combines massage, breathwork, and various other techniques, including self-inquiry, to:
- Deepen body awareness
- Release physical tension
- Create space for emotions
- Connect body and mind
It is often employed as a form of therapeutic work to enhance well-being on multiple levels.
Rebalancing gave me the tools I was looking for. It’s teaching me to more easily get out of my head, to feel better, and to recognise the voice of my inner critic. I am learning to accept myself in all my facets. I’m never “finished” or “done” and will always continue to encounter challenges, but I am experiencing more and more inner space. Because of this, I can stay with emotions and consciously step out of them more often, without them completely overwhelming me.
Bodywork and breathwork are not just a passion but also a guiding principle in my own life; an awareness process of trial and error.
It is extremely rewarding work. Time and again, I find joy in guiding people toward body awareness, a sense of inner spaciousness, and where needed, some (pain) relief.
Beyond the inspiration I get from working with clients, I continuously learn to expand my skills and techniques. I therefore feel that my path as a Holistic Bodyworker and Breathwork Coach will never fade.
